Mentoring

The business of connection, not attention.

Big careers are built on trusted, meaningful relationships. Not followers. Not algorithms.

Followers can build awareness. Character, reputation and self-belief build careers.

I've spent twenty years helping brands and people grow. As a business leader in some of the world’s most famous - and infamous - global brands. I work at the intersection that overlaps fashion, sales, advertising and media - the most notoriously tricky business environments.

Sometimes this means working on strategy. All the time it means working on energy. Because a career doesn't exist separately from who you are energetically. It’s built on relationships - with yourself and with others - and these underpin life itself and have a direct impact on your energetic footprint.

During my career I've invested in something far more valuable than building a following: Relationships. The kind built through trust, shared experiences, turning up, building a good reputation and helping each other along the way. They helped me form the relationship with myself, to a point where I fully learned an unwavering self-belief.

After starting out as an art teacher, I somehow found myself leading digital advertising and content partnerships for brands including VOGUE, ELLE, GQ, Net-A-Porter during one of the biggest shifts our industry has ever seen. Then as a business consultant globalising and restructuring at brands such as ASOS and Conde Nast.

The people I met along the way are now CEOs, founders, Editor-in-Chiefs, Creative Directors, Global Marketing Directors, technology leaders and the ones making the big decisions. I don't really think of them as "my network." They're people I've grown up with professionally. The ones who lived in crappy East London flats before anyone wanted to live there, who made it into work after no sleep. Who still make me laugh.

Twenty years later, that's turned out to be the best investment I ever made, because nobody remembers how many followers you have - they remember how you made them feel, and they whether you were someone good.

That's how I mentor. Honest conversations. Lived experience. A fresh perspective, and opening doors that only twenty years of trusted relationships could. And I will encourage you to build something meaningful
